Life Alive Packaging Guide

Learn which items at Life Alive are compostable or recyclable. Here's a hint—it's all of them!

All of the take-out packaging at Life Alive is either compostable or recyclable. Use this guide to help determine which items belong in which bin.

Compostable:

  • Food Scraps

  • Grain/Salad Bowl Bottoms

  • Sporks

  • Straws

  • Napkins

Recyclable:

  • Soup Pints

  • Broth Containers

  • Plastic Lids

  • Grain/Salad Bowl Lids

  • Acai Bowls

  • Acai Bowl Lids

  • Iced Beverage Cups and Lids

  • Hot Beverage Cups and Lids

  • Sauce Ramekins and Lids

  • Paper Bags

  • To-Go Boxes

  • Cold Pressed Juice Bottles

  • Avocado Mousse/Overnight Oats Bowls and Lids

Landfill:

  • Anything from the outside world

Remember:

To recycle an item, it must be rinsed and have no traces of food residue to be accepted. All too often, if an item in a bag of recycling is not recyclable, the whole bag of recycling gets placed in a landfill. 😮

It’s also important to be aware of the different types of recycling since not all neighborhoods accept each kind.

Use this guide to learn more about recycling in your Boston community and learn about Boston's trash and recycling services here.
