Brett Fermeglia- Operations Afficionados... i.e., Manager
Once described by a food critic as “wiry and bright-eyed”, Brett’s mission is to exude a positive and even keeled presence to the world. Fueled by the adventurer (try it in a wrap with avocado!) and wheatgrass, he has lived his “Life Alive” for some time now. Besides generally loving good food and drink, company, and working for and with Life AliveSM cafe, Brett is constantly on the hunt for new music and experiences. He is immensely thankful for the opportunity to work for a company with such high standards and ethics, and couldn’t ask for a better staff to share this feeling with. Please say hello when you stop in! |

Matthew McCarron
I've been lucky to know such wonderful people through working at Life AliveSM cafe since October of 2007. There have been many experiences that can not be replicated in other environments. My family is my co-workers and that is what sets Life AliveSM cafe apart. Being a voracious omnivore, there is so much here that can offer real substance and nourishment. My current favorite is the ever popular Adventurer with either an egg or squash in place of tofu. My second is the Bachelor with avocado, garlic, and sesame sticks. My drink of choice is evenly divided between the Superhero and the Vibrance Alive.
I'm usually singing to myself and dancing like a fool, off and on the clock. Music is what moves us and singing is what soothes us. I'm usually quick with a one-liner and possess a terribly irreverent sense of humor. I moved to Cambridge with Brett and Andrew RC to help open the second Life AliveSM cafe and I couldn't have asked for a better job. |

I truly believe Life AliveSM cafe acts as a catalyst in awakening the human soul and elevating it to higher energy frequencies. I Feel so blessed to be a part of this amazing mission in healing the heart of humanity with love and nourishment. My favorite meal is the Green Goddess and my favorite drink is the Life Alive, because as I drink it, I can literally feel the earth flowing through my veins! Currently, I am practicing dream yoga, maintaining full awareness as I flow through the waking and sleeping realms. I also enjoy the thrill of adventurous experiences and want to take white-water kayaking excursions all over the planet! |

Jeffrey Nowlin
All you ever wanted to know about Jeffrey Nowlin:
Life AliveSM Cambridge is a great place to work, eat and build relationships with friends. I came to Life AliveSM cafe looking for a new and exciting place to bring all of my best qualities: creativity, amicability, responsibility. The nurturing and sensuous atmosphere provides a superb place to find balance, health and joy. I feel committed to our mission of affording the community with good food and a space to relax and enjoy the simpler things in life. My favorite dish is the Lover. It's a simple plate but brings on feelings of comfort and placidity. If I'm not enjoying the food, I treat myself with an Island Alive smoothie with green tea to feel refreshed and stimulated. To be told first hand by a satisfied customer that the food and service were terrific during their experience is proof that Life AliveSM cafe is fulfilling its mission. Simply put, I'm happy to be part of that. |

She loves working at Life AliveSM cafe because it is directly aligned with her beliefs regarding health conscious food, sustainability, and sharing the love. She feels truly blessed to be a part of the Life AliveSM family. Marinda Righter
Marinda and the universe work very well together. She is passionate about many things but her loves include choreography (also studying Dance Therapy), music (promoter and avid listener), food, and the life connections she has made along the way. Marinda is a typical Sagittarius. She needs to travel in order to find the nectar of life and finds joy in immersing herself in culture. She has spent time in Africa dancing and drumming with the wonderful folks of Conakry, Guinea. After that she was presented with an opportunity to travel the country with two bands from New Orleans - George Porter Jr, Russell Batiste, and Brian Stoltz & Bonerama. Three years later she works primarily with Nate Wilson Group - a local psychedelic rock band. The local music scene in Boston/Cambridge/Somerville is extraordinary. There's music somewhere every night of the week and she is happy to share when and where you can check out some local gems!
She fits in quite well with this diverse community. The amount of love, support, and creativity that flows through this eclectic staff makes coming to work worth while. "And this food is changing my life!" Thank you for your vision come to fruition, Heidi.
Most likely you will run into Marinda at the register where she loves to talk up her 3 favorite dishes. Her first love is "The Rebel". Within this dish she realized adding squash, tamari almonds and/or avocado to any dish is the way to go! The Miso Masterful is always a treat when she needs energy (exchange udon for quinoa). This vitalizing soup is warm and comforting. The Swami takes the cake. Try it with quinoa instead of brown rice and add you will be delighted by it's sweet miso curry magic - squash and avo is strongly suggested to make it even more delicious. |

Annie Zean Dunbar
Zean works at Life AliveSM cafe because she believes that 'food that is delicious, nutritious and vicious(ly) good is a right, not a privileged'. Zean is a kindergarten after-school teacher, a three season bike rider, and ukulele padawan and a lover of all things kinesthetic. She loves reading and writing and French. She is a big fan of the Swami with red lentil hummus and *lots* of Dancing Passion. The warm flavors and the curry miso overwhelms with delight, while the raisins and almonds crunch into the smooth and rich flavor of the Red Lentils. For drinks, Zean adores the Lust Alive with almond milk and coconut oil. |

Ashley Nagelberg
I love working at Life AliveSM cafe because of the delicious organic food, the colorful atmosphere, and the open-minded and peaceful people who make working here such a joy. It's so invigorating to work in a place where everybody loves their job and feels passionately about making people feel good and healthy and providing a product that is actually good for the environment. My favorite meal is the Healer with quinoa and a Ginger Crush - who knew such simplicity could provide so much energy and comfort? When not at Life AliveSM cafe, I spend my time groovin' to music, running along the Charles River, and traveling around this great Earth. |

Andrew Johanson
CHEWEY is an avid musician, artist, audio production for film pundit, and electronics specialist. Using only the best music technology out there today, he went to school to learn how to forge, program, and work synthesizers, design sound, and play/record electronic/rock/funk music. After graduating from Berklee College of Music he's been caught dashing around the Northeast, taking in as much food, music, film, and art culture as possible, and within due course, he stumbled upon the pearly gates of Life AliveSM Urban Ooooasis. He goes mental for the Alchemist bowl, with luscious Avocado, Egg, and crunchy Sesame Stix, drizzled with our Dancing Passion Hot Sauce, and paired with the earthy, sweet, and tart jolt from our Life AliveSM juice.

Laura J. Kelly
Laura J. Kelly (aka Laura-Kelly) was born and raised roaming the 7 Hills of Somerville. When she isn't at Life AliveSM cafe, insisting that you get an Emperor (with ses-stixx and squaaaaaaaaash) she is studying theatre, celebrating puns, writing bad haikus and contemplating the meaning of life. LJK also wants you to consider getting the Simply Alive with green tea, bee pollen and crushed iced (she calls it: The Simply Crushed)! |

Amy Alvey
Amy Alvey moved from Southern California in 2007 to pursue studies at Berklee College of Music, where she graduated in violin performance in 2011. Though not strictly vegetarian, she has always had an affinity for vegan and vegetarian food, being under the opinion that a meal without meats or cheeses (which are easy-way-outs for "tasty" food) has to be more creative with its flavor and textures. Ever since being a customer, she's found her taste buds to be delighted with each meal, and never has to worry about seeking out the "healthy option" to order on the menu.
For example, her favorite meal is the Swami wrap with avocado or the Adventurer with Red Lentil Hummus. She has recently become obsessed with the fact that we use unpasteurized cheese, and the gluten free nama that Life AliveSM cafe offers. Amy has worked for corporate giants such as Baja Fresh and Starbucks, and since then has devoted herself to smaller companies' growth. To work with a committed team and seeing such a company like this thrive is rewarding enough.
When she is not sticking her hands in a huge vat of kale or staring at the produce case (SO. BEAUTIFUL.), she gigs around with her band Mighty Tiny. Check us out! www.mightytinymusic.com |

Jennifer Nelson
Jen feels fortunate to work with such a fun and passionate crew at Life AliveSM cafe. She loves how clean and simple the food is and encourages guests to make it their own! Jen's fav. meal is the Explorer with squash (wicked nutty and delicious) but will never say no to a Green Goddess with cheese and extra kale. She highly recommends checking out the condiments table- the dancing-passion hot sauce goes well on almost everything! She is also passionate about fitness and feels the integration of exercise and a healthy diet is a killer foundation for a bright and honest life. As of late, Bikram yoga and heart-pumping spin classes have been getting her in the zone.
