Lunch in Lowell, MA. (Thanks Kate!)
Jun 16th, 2010

I’m sorry this post wasn’t done earlier, I was on Amtrak and had assumed their wifi would be working, silly me. Anyway, it wound up being a good thing because my friend Kate took me to a groovy little joint in Lowell, Massachusetts for lunch called Life Alive. It’s at 194 Middle Street.

One thing about travel is it can be really tough to get clean, good food. This place has it all and more. They describe themselves as an urban oasis and organic cafe & that pretty much covers it. 98-99 percent of their ingredients are organic, which is incredible to me.  The sauces are raw and vegan and you’ll want to lick your plate if a drop is left on it. They’ve even got some really nice organic teas and the coffees are fair trade and also organic. Kate said everything she’s ever had there was fantastic and  I believe it. The majority of items are vegan, but they do use eggs and cheese in certain recipes.

I had the Udon Miso Masterful, which was the best soup I’ve had out in a long time. I topped it off with a Hive Alive Jubilant Juice that was truly out of this world, both in flavor and in how good it made me feel afterward. I tried Kate’s wrap, I think it was The Magician. I do know that not only was it beautiful it was delicious. Her chai latte was outstanding.

The staff was great, they couldn’t have been friendlier or nicer. This place is an oasis, check it out next time you’re in the Lowell area. I only wish it was closer to me, if it was I’d be their best customer.

Thank you Life Alive for making really clean, healthy, delicious food available in Lowell, how about opening a branch in Brooklyn?
